RELATED STORIES

The Good News of Jesus Christ has been spreading throughout the Siberian cities of Irkutsk, Angara and Usolye in eastern Siberia. One thousand volunteers from twenty churches are working with GCM Ministries/IRRTV in this evangelistic campaign.

As soon as the call center phones were operational the phones began to ring.

During the first night an alcoholist called for help and referred to the campaign ads he had seen at the local supermarket in Angara, campaign coordinator Juri Ananjev reported.

"Bring me the book!"

The special evangelistic campaign books, containing life-stories, have been ordered by bank managers and members of city council alike. A bank manager who noticed the ads ordered the books for all of his staff. Many callers admitted they have contemplated suicide and many others suffer from loneliness and hopelessness. Church members volunteering to deliver books have visited many of these people already.

A 65-year old single lady and retiree called in and said she had seen the big ad banner that read: "God gave my life new color". The words on the banner had penetrated her being so that she called the displayed number immediately. Her request was to "bring the book! I want to know how God can give someone's life new color."

Changed Lives

Drowning in Alcohol

I thank God for you! Thank you fo rthe programs that I so earnestly wait for each week. My husbanad is an alcoholic. He drowns all of life's sorrows and joys in vodka. Vodka has total control over him. A whole bottle at a time is normal for him. He has become totally apathetic. I pray for him but I cannot do it alone.
