"’Yet I will restore the fortunes of Elam in days to come,’ declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 49:39 (NIV)The Arab and Muslim World Missions department at Great Commission Media Ministries (GCM Ministries) is as busy as rush hour traffic in Cairo. Our Farsi (Persian) TV production is revving in high gear with new programs continually being prepared for production as others are completed. Farsi is the spoken language of 70 million people in Iran. With over 1 billion in print, the Bible is the most published book in the world, yet for the 70 million inhabitants of Iran, it is unattainable. Our Iranian friends tell us that Bibles can’t be found in bookstores or even in churches. • Iranian Christians watching our TV programs often ask us, "Could you please send us Bibles because we do not have them!" • Christian congregations in Iran are underground and they cannot stay connected with each other openly. Many Christians belong to very small groups of five or six people. They do not have the necessary networking for Bible distribution. • Iranian authorities try to prevent Muslims from entering churches in Iran. They also disrupt Christian satellite programs with vain attempts at jamming satellite signals or even confiscating satellite dishes. In spite of their best efforts, the landscape is dotted with dishes receiving this “rain from heaven”. The Islamic government also attempts to filter evangelistic web sites and those that offer an online Bible. • Persecuted Iranian Christians need help from their brethren in the western world, especially now that everything they do is closely monitored and heavily censored by the authorities. • A believer in Christ does not receive spiritual nourishment and growth without the Bible. Bibles are also needed to show the truth about God to those who do not yet believe. • GCM Ministries is building a Bible distribution network through contacts in Iran and in other countries. • God has given us today to reach the unreached and nurture those who desire the Word of God in Iran. The devil will tell us we can wait until tomorrow, but modestly favorable conditions that exist today in Iran can vanish in a moment. • Farsi language evangelistic TV programs produced by GCM Ministries have the potential to reach millions of Iranian families by satellite. • People are coming to Christ in Iran. The numbers grow daily as many are disillusioned with the teachings of radical Islam and seek the truth about God. • Pray that the persecuted church in Iran gets some relief and Iranian society becomes more open. Pray for our Bible projects and TV programs. Pray that the Gospel will be heard throughout Iran. Prayer combined with action will win the battle for the souls of men. You can help Iranians receive the Bible by donating to our Bible distribution work! Bibles to IranThere is a shortage of the weapon that does not cause death but brings life. Bibles are wanted and desperately needed, but it is difficult for Iranian people to find them at any price. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12 (NASB) And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17 (NASB) Our objective is to distribute 50 thousand Bibles in Iran. One Bible costs about $5. That means with your $50 donation, 10 Iranians will receive a Bible that they cannot buy themselves at any price. (All donations made from the US and Canada are tax-deductible.) |
